If you are experienced in finance or already work in an accountancy practice then our ACCA Knowledge qualifications will give you a comprehensive understanding of accounting and the business environment.

  • F1 will cover the business environment and the influence this has on how organisations and accountants operate, and of the role of the accountant and other key business functions and the basic principles of effective management
  • F2 will develop knowledge and understanding of how to prepare and process basic cost and quantitative information to support management in planning and decision-making in a variety of business contexts
  • F3 will provide insights into the underlying principles, concepts and regulations relating to financial accounting and technical proficiency in the use of double-entry accounting techniques

Career Path: After completing ACCA Knowledge module & qualification your typical salary range could be between £20,000 to £30,000 for roles as an Accounting Assistant or Accounts Officer.

After completion: After achieving ACCA Knowledge module – F1-Accounting in Business, F2-Management Accounting and F3-Financial Accounting, you’ll have the option to progress onto the Skills module for P4, P5, P6 and P7.

Entry Requirements:

You will need to have a minimum of three GCSEs and two A Levels in five separate subjects including Maths and English.

Access to ACCA via FIA or AAT qualification:

No other academic qualifications required. Gain exemptions from ACCA papers F1 – F3.

If you don’t have the minimum qualifications you can start by registering for Foundations in Accountancy (FIA) and study for one or all of the entry-level qualifications. There are three qualifications, and you can start at any level.

Graduate-entry route:

Degree holders from ACCA-accredited institutions may be exempt from up to 9 exams. Other relevant degrees may also qualify you for exemptions.

F1 Accountant in Business

  • Understand the purpose and types of businesses and how they interact with key stakeholders and the external environment.
  • Understand business organisation structure,functions and the role of corporate governance
  • Recognise the function of accountancy and audit in communicating, reporting and assuring financial information and in effective financial control and compliance
  • Recognise the principles of authority and leadership and how teams and individuals are recruited, managed, motivated and developed.
  • Understand the importance of personal effectiveness as the basis for effective team and organisational behaviour.
  • Recognise that all aspects of business and finance should be conducted in a manner which complies with and is in the spirit of accepted professional ethics and professional values

F2 – Management Accounting

  • Understand the nature, source and purpose of management information
  • Understand and be able to apply cost accounting techniques
  • Prepare budgets for planning and control
  • Compare actual costs with standard costs and analyse any variances
  • Understand and be able to apply performance measurements and monitor business performance.

F3 – Financial Accounting

  • Understand the context and purpose of financial reporting
  • Define the qualitative characteristics of financial information
  • Demonstrate the use of double-entry and accounting systems
  • Record transactions and events
  • Be able to prepare a trial balance (including identifying and correcting error
  • Be able to prepare basic financial statements for incorporated and unincorporated entities.
  • Be able to prepare simple consolidated financial statements
  • Interpretation of financial statements
